👥 Who We Are
Saksham Ek Abhiyaan, which translates to “An Enablement Crusade,” is more than just an NGO — it is a heartfelt movement born from personal experience, shaped by empathy, and driven by purpose. Our organization was founded and is led by survivors of spinal cord injuries who understand, from within, the struggles and triumphs of navigating life on a wheelchair in India.
We believe that a spinal cord injury is not the end of life — it is a beginning of a different, yet equally meaningful journey. With the right guidance, emotional support, and tools, every person with a disability can reclaim their life, rediscover their strength, and become an empowered, contributing member of society.
🌟 Our Journey
What began in 1998 as informal peer-to-peer support slowly evolved into a full-fledged NGO in 2015 — driven by the urgent need for structured, accessible, and community-based support systems for persons with spinal cord injuries (SCI). Our founders include lawyers, fitness professionals, educators, and advocates who, despite their disabilities, have carved out successful lives and now dedicate their energy to helping others do the same.
Since our inception, we’ve:
Counselled over 1,000+ individuals with SCI and their families
Distributed hundreds of medical-grade wheelchairs and aids
Reached deep into rural and semi-urban communities, where awareness and support are limited
Hosted legal and rights awareness workshops and peer group meetings
Provided vocational support, including devices like laptops, to help individuals begin their entrepreneurial or freelance journeys
We Work Together
Lives touched
Peer counseling sessions
Wheelchairs distributed
Rural outreach zones
💡 Our Values

Our programs span physical therapy, counselling, mobility training, legal awareness, aid distribution, and vocational rehabilitation — all offered with compassion and competence.
